Obituary of Eileen Mackey Ketcham

EAST DURHAM - Eileen Mackey Ketcham, 61, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on Thursday, January 1, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Eileen was born January 12, 1953 to Evelyn and Stannard Mackey, in Catskill. She was raised in East Durham, was a graduate of Greenville High School and received her Bachelor's degree from the University at Albany. A Program Specialist with the New York State Education Department for 33 years, before retiring in 2013, Eileen was respected for the quality of her work and enjoyed her co-workers. Her second career kept her busy as a licensed real estate sales person. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends and combined her passion for real estate and travel by spending time in Arizona. Eileen married Harry M. Ketcham Jr. in 1972 and they made their home on her family farm in 1978. Harry predeceased Eileen on October 12, 2003. She is survived by her parents, Stannard and Evelyn Mackey of East Durham; sons, Mack Ketcham of Scottsdale, Arizona and Troy Ketcham (Tracy) of Delmar; sisters, Cathy Calder of Austin, Texas and Rita Mackey of Preston Hollow, and her beloved granddaughters Colby and Taylor Eileen. She was devoted to her granddaughters and loved spending time with them. She will be missed by all who met and loved her. Friends and relatives are invited and may call at the A. J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 Route 81, Greenville on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 from 6 until 7 p.m. with a memorial service to be conducted at 7 p.m. A private burial will be held at a later date at the Oak Hill Cemetery.
