Obituary of James J. Orsino, Sr.

GREENVILLE – James John Orsino Sr., 67, died suddenly Monday, December 29, 2014. James was born in Albany and raised in Coeymans. He was a longtime resident of Greenville. He retired from the Greene County Association for Retarded Children (ARC) in 1987, where he held the position of Subcontract Supervisor. James spent many volunteer hours chaperoning special events for his clients and also fundraising for the benefit of the agency. James was an Amateur Radio Operator (Ham) for 36 years under call sign KA2DLE. He was a former member of the Rip Van Winkle Amateur Radio Society and the Greene County Amateur Radio Club. He enjoyed the hobby and had many "Ham" friends from around the country. James was a lover of all animals but he especially loved dogs. He spent many hours grooming his Standard Schnauzers for the show ring and was very proud when Sunny earned his championship in only five shows. James is the husband of Anita Kleinman Orsino; father of James (Nicole) Orsino Jr.; grandfather of Emma and Ethan Orsino; brother of Virginia Orsino (Carl Senter). James is also survived by his aunts, MaryAnn (George) Strout of Guilderland, Rose O'Brien (Joseph) and Helene Palmer (Michael Sr. deceased) both of Saratoga Springs, Elizabeth Orsino (William E Orsino Jr. deceased) of Albany; brother-in-law Gary Kleinman (Lucille) of Clinton Twp. MI; godfather and cousin Peter Mayone Sr. (Peggy) of Coeymans as well as cousin and friend John James Orsino Sr. (Linda) of Ravena. He is also survived by several other cousins; nieces Shoshana (Joshua MD) Garber, Dr. Miriam (Viet) Le and nephew Yosef Kleinman, and by his canine best friend, Koby. James was predeceased by his parents Joseph J. and Santa Palmer Orsino; grandparents William E. (Sr.) and Virginia Orsino and Burton and Philomena Palmer; uncles Michael Palmer Sr. and William E. Orsino Jr. Cremation was private, with a Celebration of Life at a later date.
