Obituary of Alice Vander Pyle

FREEHOLD – Alice Vander Pyle, 90, passed away Monday, November 24, 2014 at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a brief illness. She was born on August 11, 1924 in Paterson, NJ, daughter of the late Edwin and Adriana Alnor, and wife of the late Franklin "Frank" Vander Pyle, who predeceased her in 2002. Alice and her family summered in Greenville when she was young, and settled in Greene County when she was 16. She was employed for 26 years by the former Becker Electronics in East Durham, where she was supervisor of the coil department. Alice was also employed for more than 10 years as a chambermaid at Sunny Hill Resort in Freehold. She was a member of Greenville Center Baptist Church. Alice is survived by her children, Carrie Taranova and Frank "Bud" (Lise) Vander Pyle; grandsons, Todd, Jeffrey and Seth Taranova; 8 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Alice was predeceased by all of her siblings. Calling hours will be Friday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial in Freehold Cemetery.
