Robert W. Cochrane Obituary

DURHAM – Robert W. "Bob" Cochrane, age 80, passed away on Saturday morning, October 11, 2014 at his residence after a brief illness. Born in Brooklyn on April 13, 1934, he was son of the late William "Harry" and Gertrude Gibbons Cochrane. The family came to Greene County in 1946. Bob worked for many years on the family farm, as well as driving a truck for Cairo Ready Mix and Sterrett's, retiring in May of 1999. He enjoyed the yearly winter vacation in Florida with his wife. Bob was a member of Noah Masonic Lodge in Altamont, Oak Hill-Durham Volunteer Fire Company, and the Cyprus #5 Shriners Motor Patrol unit.


Bob is survived by his wife, Iris McCabe Cochrane, with whom he would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on November 6; children, Robin (Richard) McCulloch, Kandis Cooke, Wendy (Edgar) Hasenkopf, Gordon (Heidi) Cochrane, and Gregory Cochrane, and many other children who considered the Cochrane home as their own; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild; one sister, Jean (Charles) Kohrs; many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by one sister, Susan McNulty.


Cremation has been performed privately. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, followed by a memorial service at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Durham Ambulance, PO Box 106, Oak Hill, NY 12460 will be appreciated.
