Obituary of Charlotte Brumell
FREEHOLD β Charlotte Brumell, age 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 15, 2014 in the Pines at Catskill. She was born in North Collins, NY on November 9, 1918 to John Taylor and Julia Volk, nee Leitz, and was raised by her mother and stepfather, Adam Volk in Western New York. Charlotte was employed as the receptionist and switchboard operator at Atlantic Cement Company in Ravena, where she was known as "The Voice of Atlantic Cement". She also worked in the pro shop at Schmollinger's Pleasant View in Freehold. Charlotte was known for her immaculate appearance. She dressed beautifully and never left the house until her hair, nails, jewelry and makeup were complete. Charlotte loved golfing, dancing and shopping.
Charlotte is survived by her daughters, Helen (David) Meier and Barbara Brumell Schmollinger; grandchildren, Dawn Aiello, Christina Bachar, Eric Meier and Randall "Arjay" Schmollinger; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Charlotte was predeceased by her husband, Randall E. Brumell, and her grandson, Curtis Meier.
Calling hours will be Saturday, September 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, with a Catholic prayer service during the calling hours. Following cremation, burial will take place at a later date in Forest Hill Cemetery, Attica.
