GREENVILLE – Mary-Ellen T. Spatz White passed away peacefully on Friday evening, August 15, 2014, her 70th birthday, at her residence with her devoted husband at her side. Born in Rockville Centre on August 15, 1944, she was daughter of the late Joseph P. and Dorothy Hartigan Spatz. Mary-Ellen and her husband were married in 1968 and moved to Greenville the following year. She was a registered nurse and served as head nurse of obstetrics at the former Greene County Memorial Hospital in Catskill. Mary-Ellen retired from the Whitney M. Young Health Center in Albany. She was very community-minded and served as a Brownie leader and Girl Scout director, a member of the Rotariannes of Greenville Rotary Club, as well as attending school concerts and sporting events in support of her daughters.

Mary-Ellen is survived by her devoted husband, James E. White; four daughters, Cheryl-Ann (Ken) Davidson, Barbara-Jean (late Glenn) White-Ramirez, Sandra-Lynn (Gary) VanValkenberg, and Erin-Marie (Carl) Reynolds; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Ray and Donald Spatz; her mother-in-law, Margaret White; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, August 19, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. The funeral will be Wednesday, August 20, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial in Greenville Cemetery.
