Obituary of William Burdette Scott, III
WESTERLO β William B. "Bill" Scott III, 59, died Friday, July 4, 2014 following a boating accident on Tuesday, July 1 on Lake George. Born in Nyack on November 9, 1954, he was raised in Rockland County until age 16, when the family moved to Westerlo. Bill was a graduate of Greenville Central School. He worked for Orange Motors, drove a school bus for Greenville, worked at the former Main Street Garage in Greenville, and was a union pipe fitter in Hyde Park, before going to work as a mechanic and driver on the Town of Westerlo Highway Department for the last 20 years. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, and recently began attending car shows as the proud owner of a 1967 Daytona Yellow Chevrolet Nova.
Bill is survived by his wife of 37 years, Colleen G. McCafferty Scott; children, Jesica M. Scott (Brian J. Peck), Amy L. (Joshua M.) Beers, and Gregory W. Scott; grandson, Hunter H. Peck; parents, William B. Jr. and Irene McCarty Scott; siblings, Lorraine (late Steve) Pecylak and Richard (Jeanie) Scott; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. The funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial in Westerlo Rural Cemetery.
