Obituary of Beulah M. Sweet
SOUTH WESTERLO β Beulah M. Sweet, 96, passed away on Sunday, June 29, 2014 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson after a brief illness. Born in Cornwallville on April 19, 1918, she was daughter of the late Paul and Gertrude Proper Treyer, and wife of the late Glenroy W. Sweet, who predeceased her on March 1, 2005. Beulah was a graduate of Cairo Central School. She was employed as a senior account clerk at the New York State Department of Health in Albany, retiring 31 years ago. Beulah was a member of the South Westerlo Congregational Christian Church, the Helderberg Hilltoppers Campers Club, and the Westerlo Historical Society. She was a life member of the Westerlo Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and the Oak Hill-Durham Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, with more than 50 years of membership. Beulah was one of the originators, in 1937, of Catskill Valley Grange #1557 in East Durham.
Beulah is survived by her son, Kenneth (Valerie) Sweet; three grandchildren, Army Major Douglas (Vicki) Sweet, Kyle and Stephanie Sweet; two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Olivia Sweet; her sister, Beatrice Augstein; several nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 2nd from 4 to 8 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, with a service at 6:30 p.m. by the Oak Hill-Durham Ladies Auxiliary. The funeral will be Thursday, July 3rd, at 10 a.m. at South Westerlo Congregational Christian Church, 282 County Route 405, South Westerlo, followed by burial in Greenville Cemetery.
