Obituary of William E. Brown

COEYMANS HOLLOW – William E. "Bill" Brown, 67, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a brief illness. Born in New York City on November 29, 1946, he was son of the late Robert J. and Anna J. Hahn Brown. At age 15, Bill and his family moved to Coeymans Hollow where he has resided since. He was a graduate of Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School and attended college for accounting. Bill worked for approximately 30 years as a tax auditor at the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, retiring 12 years ago. He served on the Planning Board of the Town of Coeymans, and was a life member of the Coeymans Hollow Volunteer Fire Company. Bill was an active member of Senior Projects of Ravena, Coxsackie Senior Center, and Rivertown Senior Center in Athens, organizing and serving as caller for Bingo, and participating in many other activities. Bill is survived by nieces, nephews, a cousin, and many friends. A private graveside service will be held to bury his ashes.
