Obituary of Dick D. Brush

GREENVILLE – Dick D. Brush, age 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, March 26, 2014 at his son’s residence, surrounded by his loving and caring family. Born in Newburgh on February 21, 1945, he was son of the late Norman C. and Charlotte Stanton Brush. The family moved to Westerlo when Dick was 5 years old, and he attended Greenville schools. Dick worked for several years at Paddock Pools before entering the U.S. Army and serving in Vietnam. Following discharge, he became a member of Local 7, Plumbers & Steamfitters in Albany, and worked on many projects until he retired at age 60. Dick was a member of NRA and the Greenville American Legion Post 291. He bowled in a senior league at Del Lanes, and in a mixed league at Ravena Lanes. Dick will be remembered as a kind-hearted man who would help anyone. Dick is survived by his sons, James Brush (Cheryl), Jeff Brush (Rana), and Matt Brush; his grandchildren, Krista, Kelly June, and Mason; his siblings, Joyce Brush, Norma Kane, Faye Croote, Victor C., Chester A., Norman S., Peter N., and Andy S. Brush; his girlfriend, Mary Quay; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Friday, March 28, from 4 to 8 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, with the American Legion service at 6 p.m. Following cremation, Dick’s ashes will be buried at a later date in Saratoga National Cemetery.
