Obituary of Ethel G. Hull

Ethel G. Hull, 98, Durham, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 13, 2014. Ethel, the matriarch of Hull-O Farms, was born May 5, 1915 in Medusa, NY.  She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, Sarasota, Fl. Ethel graduated from the House of Good Samaritan as a registered nurse. In addition to running the farm with Austin (Pete) Hull and raising 4 children, she worked as a nurse at Catskill Memorial Hospital, Catskill, NY.  In the early 1970's, she moved to Sarasota, Fl and continued her nursing career.  Upon retiring from nursing, she obtained her real estate license and worked for Century 21. In 2010, she moved back to her roots to live out her remaining days on the Hull family farm. Ethel gave new meaning to the word industrious. Her passion, pleasure, and purpose in life was to serve others: her motto "what can I do for you?" She was never willing to sit on the sidelines watching others when her assistance could reduce the load of another.  Her generous and giving nature could be seen daily as she helped prepare meals for the farm vacation guests or caring for the family. Even well into her nineties, her mind was so keen that she was a force to be reckoned with during a game of Bridge or Scrabble. Survivors include a son, Frank Hull (Sherry) of Durham, NY, daughters Maryanne Beauchemin of Vidor, TX and Carolyn (Roger)Throneburg-Dumaine of Tampa, FL, grandsons Justin (Christine) and Damon (Kelly) Throneburg of Tampa, FL, Zachary (Brett) Kearney of Sarasota, Fl, Jason Hull (Toni) of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Jacob(Catina) and Jared Hull of Durham, NY and 11 great grandchildren. Ethel was predeceased by an infant son Douglas, husband Austin, daughter Deborah, grandson Jordan, three sisters and one brother. Memorial calling hours will be held on Saturday, February 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. Memorial donations may be made to Community Hospice, 47 Liberty St. Catskill, NY 12414. Light a candle at ajcunninghamfh.com.
