Galen B. Chase Sr. of Medusa, NY, passed away at the age of 61 after a long courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, January 23, 2014 with his loving family at his side. Galen was born in Catskill on February 16, 1952 to the late Clifford L. Chase and the late Bernice Hoyt Chase. Galen was employed by Albany County Highway Dept. Rensselaerville Unit, until his retirement. He also ran a small farm. He shared his passion for horses and riding with his grandchildren and “riding friends”. His biggest love was all of his family and friends whom he always shared his wonderful sense of humor with, right up till his final days. Surviving are his wife: Rachel (White) Chase; children: Galen Bruce Chase, Jr (Beth), Pennie Hillicoss (Bill), Hope Bensen (Chris), Jackie Canastra (Tim); 9 grandchildren: Tyler, Madilynne, Connor, Chad, Makayla, Jack, Kristin, Kassidy, Dylan; his “grandpuppies” Killian, Ginger and Racer; his siblings: Clifford Chase III (Janice), Wanda Clickman, Richard Chase (Carol), Mark Chase (Carol Ann), Linda Chase, Melony Shaver (Doyle); sister-in-law Joyce Chase; several nieces and nephews; and his “Best Friend” Jenny. Galen was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Tommie Chase and Gary Jon Chase. Calling hours will be at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home 4898 State Route 81 Greenville, NY 12083 on Monday January 27th from 4 to 8pm with a funeral service the next day January 28th at 10am with a burial to follow.
