Obituary of Floyd W. Ives, Jr.
OAK HILL – Floyd W. “Wes” “Junior” Ives, Jr., 83, passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014, on the farm where he was born on September 10, 1930 to Floyd W. and Ruth Cammer Ives, and where he lived his whole life. Junior was a member and past trustee of the Oak Hill-Durham United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and the “Save the World” club. Junior was a diehard fan of the New York Yankees, and a regular patron of Green Hill Cafe, the Milk Run and West Winds Diner.
Junior is survived by three children, Jeffrey C. Ives, Patricia (Donald) Fetty and Donna (Timothy) Kiley; four grandchildren, Julia Fetty (Thomas) O’Connor, Jeanna Fetty, Kristina Kiley, and Timothy Kiley Jr.; the best dog in Oak Hill, “Tippy”; nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and many friends. In addition to his parents, Junior was predeceased by his wife, Vera Cowan Ives; son, David Ives; siblings, Jane and Sheldon Ives.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. The funeral will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial in Oak Hill Cemetery.
