Obituary of Elsy May Colvin

Elsy May Colvin, 75, of East Durham passed away on Monday, December 9, 2013 at Columbia Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. She is to be cremated with a memorial service to be held on January 4th. Elsy May was born in Cairo, NY to Henry and Anna. Her greatest love was her family and she is survived by her daughter Marjorie, her husband Gary, and their daughters Alisha (her husband Nate) and Marissa; her daughter Donna; her son Paul, his wife Gina, his son Thomas, daughter Mary Faith and step-daughter Miranda. She is also survived by her sisters Gloria and Steffy, brother Hank, and numerous nieces, nephews, and their children. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years Paul, sisters Edith and Onnie, and brothers Carl and Martin. Elsy May loved taking care of her family and painting. She was a lifelong member of the East Durham Volunteer Fire Company’s Ladies Auxiliary. Friends and family are invited to a memorial service to be held 11:00 am, next Saturday, January 4, 2014 at the Cornerstone Baptist Church, Stone Bridge Road Extension, East Durham with a luncheon to follow. At her request the family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her memory to the East Durham Volunteer Fire Company or The Cornerstone Baptist Church.
