Obituary of Henning U. Suemmermann
GREENVILLE – Henning “Hank” Suemmermann, 81, passed away on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at his residence after a long illness. Born in Germany, he and his family came to Canada after World War II. They settled in the United States in the early 1950’s. Hank was a US Army Veteran, serving from 1956 to 1958 as a Tank Sergeant in the Middle East. He has lived in the Greenville area since 1970. Hank worked construction, served as a Corrections Officer at Coxsackie Correctional Facility, and formerly owned the Cairo Diner before his retirement.
Hank is survived by his wife, Barbara L. Johnson Suemmermann, who he married on October 18, 1975 in Albany; four children, Kurt (Rosemarie), Erik (Stacy), Heidi, and Paul Suemmermann; one grandson, Erik Suemmermann Jr; one niece, Karen Reutlinger; good friend, Loretta Johnson.
Burial service with military honors will be conducted on Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, NY 12871. There are no calling hours.
