Obituary of Timothy Daly
CAIRO – Timothy Daly, 82, passed away suddenly Friday morning, November 22, 2013 at his residence. He was born in Ireland on January 6, 1931, son of the late Daniel and Bridget O’Keefe Daly. He came to the United States in 1957 and lived in New York City. He was employed as a carpenter for 50 years, 30 of which were spent at Madison Square Garden. After moving to Cairo in 1990, Tim and his wife Betty were the owners of Daly’s Irish Lakes Motel. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Knock Shrine in East Durham. Tim was a life member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and was Past President of Division 3, New York County. He served as Aide to the Grand Marshal of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New York City in 2000. Tim was a member of the Greenville Irish-American Club, and the Knights of Columbus, Our Lady of Knock Council 6439.
Tim is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth M. “Betty” Buckley Daly; two daughters, Julia (Harri) Stock and Bridget Daly; three grandchildren, Irene, Timothy and Max Stock. He was predeceased by his son, Daniel J. Daly.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Knock Shrine, 2052 State Route 145, East Durham, followed by burial in Winston Cemetery, East Durham. Light a candle at ajcunninghamfh.com.
