Obituary of Ruth M. Petersen

CATSKILL – Ruth M. Pierce Petersen, age 86, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 2, 2013 in the Pines at Catskill. Born in Norton Hill on Nov. 29, 1926, she was daughter of the late Walter and Gladys Simpson Pierce, and wife of the late John L. Petersen, who passed away Sept. 2, 1989. Ruthie lived in Greenville for most of her life, moving to Catskill when she sold her home, following the death of her husband. She was employed in manufacturing for many years at the former Becker Electronics, American Thermostat and the Round Top Knitting Mill, retiring many years ago. Ruthie was a member of the United Methodist Church of Greenville & Norton Hill. She enjoyed bowling, and loved the company of children and animals. Ruthie is survived by a dear friend, Mary Jane Manchester; close cousins, Martha Vance and Martha Lynnda Capellan; many other cousins and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruthie was predeceased by her brother, Robert Pierce. A calling hour will be Friday, June 7 from 10 to 11 a.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 Route 81, Greenville. The funeral will be at 11 a.m., followed by burial in Greenville Cemetery.
