GREENVILLE – Elizabeth “Betty” Schwebler Flach, age 96, passed away at her home on Friday, May 17, 2013. She was born in Ridgewood, Queens County on March 26, 1917, daughter of the late Philip and Elizabeth Pratscher Schwebler. Betty was a lifetime member of the Alcove Assembly of God Church and was a wonderful Sunday School teacher. She was employed at Pine Lake Manor for twenty seasons. Betty was a very loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother, and she loved to read, sew and crochet. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Joseph J. Flach in May 2005.
Surviving are two sons, Kenneth (Rose) Flach of Preston Hollow and Philip (Barbara) Flach of Greenville; one daughter, Joyce (Ronald) Mueller of Greenwell Springs, LA; six grandchildren, Debra (David) McCaa, Darcy (Derek) Ransome, Dawn Williams, Lynda Burhans, Kolby (Aileen) Flach, and Kristen (Jack) Prayto; eight great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is her brother, Stephen (Marian) Schwebler of New Baltimore. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Philip Schwebler Jr. and a sister, Catherine Schwebler Flach.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. The funeral will be Friday at 11 a.m. at Alcove Assembly of God Church, 143 County Route 111, Alcove, followed by burial in Alcove Cemetery.
