Obituary of Raymond Cook

EAST DURHAM – Raymond Cook, age 83, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Robinson Terrace Nursing Home in Stamford, where he resided with his wife. Born in Jamaica, Queens on January 15, 1930, he was son of the late Brent and Margaret Kelly Cook. Mr. Cook has been a resident of East Durham for almost 50 years, coming from Long Island. He worked as a truck driver for various departments in New York State government, retiring from the Division of the Lottery. Mr. Cook was a member of the East Durham Volunteer Fire Company. He is survived by his wife, Cecile Steenhuizen Cook; his children, Donna Byrne (late Patrick), Raymond Cook Jr. (Rhonda), Gail Murray (Robert), Barbara Walenta (Robert), Carol Whelan (Patrick), Kathleen Cooke (late Larry), Maryanne Leppig (Frederick), George Peter Cook (Catherine); his brother, Robert Cook; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cook was predeceased by two sons, John and Thomas Cook; three brothers, John, Brent and James Cook; one sister, Adriane Regan. Cremation has been performed privately. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date. Memorial contributions to the East Durham Volunteer Fire Company, P.O.
