Obituary of Charles H. Carpenter

Charles H. Carpenter (85) passed away on Feb. 7, 2013 at the Bethlehem Commons NH in Delmar, NY. He was born in White Plains, NY on Dec. 12, 1927 son of the late Albert B. & Gertrude M. (Hummel) Carpenter. He spent much of his youth in South Westerlo, NY and graduated from Greenville Central School in 1945. He served in the US Army from 1956 to 1947 and received the US Victory Medal. He graduated from Siena College, BA in 1951, St. John’s University School of Law, LLB 1954 and was admitted to the Bar in 1954. His Law Practice was in Cairo, NY where he lived for many years before moving to Freehold, NY. He was a member of the American Bar Association., the New York State Bar Association, the Greene County Bar Association (Past President 1970) and the Albany County Bar Association. Charlie was also a former member of the Greenville American Legion Post 291 and a Moose Lodge in Florida. He is survived by a son Thomas W. Carpenter (Elaine Rossman) of Palenville their children, Jacob & Kayla Carpenter; a daughter Lisa M. Trafton (Duane) of Cornwallville, Their children, Jared, Emily & Sarah Trafton; a daughter Susan P. Carpenter of Greenville and her sons Jack & Sydney Hummingbird. Also a sister Mary C. Ryan of Delmar. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother-in-law Roger Ryan & a cousin John O. Carpenter. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thurs. Feb. 14 at 11am at St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville, NY. Friends may call at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville on Wed. from 3 to 7pm.
