Obituary of James C. Parent

WESTERLO – James C. “Bub” Parent, 72, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

            Bub was born in Peekskill on September 30, 1952, a son of the late Clifford and Gladys Richards Parent.  He graduated from Yorktown High School, The King’s College with a Bachelor of Science in 1974, and Mercy University with a Master of Arts in 1998.  Bub resided in Yorktown Heights until 1998, in Wauconda, Illinois from 1999 until retiring to Westerlo in 2011.  He worked in corporate management and sales for Best Locks and Parksite, Inc.

            Bub was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Westerlo.  He spent four years in Peru as a missionary with SAM Missions.  He enjoyed playing guitar and bass with the worship team at church, and was a member of the Tuesday morning men’s group.  Bub enjoyed building, wood-working, carpentry, and attending local dirt track stock car racing.

            Bub is survived by his wife, Miriam Stark Parent; brother, Gerald W. Parent; son, Tim (Colleen) and sons, Elliot and Andrew Parent; daughter, Jenny (Stephen) and children, Schuyler Uyterlinde, Julia, Patrick, and Lily Meudt.

            The funeral will be Saturday, January 11th at 10:30 a.m. in the First Baptist Church of Westerlo, 618 State Route 143, Westerlo.  The family will receive visitors at the church at 10 a.m. for a half-hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in Westerlo Rural Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Camp Pinnacle, or the Westerlo Baptist Church Camper Scholarships will be appreciated.  Condolences may be posted at ajcunninghamfh.com.
