Obituary of Werner Schuessler

**Obituary for Werner Philipp Schuessler**
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Werner Philipp Schuessler, who left us on Thursday, November 7, 2024, in Catskill, NY, at the age of 86. After a lengthy illness, Werner's gentle spirit was finally at rest, leaving behind a legacy of love and knowledge that will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew him.

Born in Chicago, IL, Werner spent his formative years on the family dairy farm in Potter Hollow, NY, where a love for nature blossomed within him. A dedicated student, he graduated from Middleburgh Central School with a Regents Scholarship but chose to embark on a unique path, pursuing technical training at IBM in Kingston. His career spanned 35 remarkable years as a Regional Specialist, offering support and training across various sites, a testament to his commitment and expertise in his field. Even in retirement, Werner's thirst for knowledge was unquenchable. He eagerly continued his education at Orange County Community College, earning an associate's degree in biology.

He returned to his roots in Potter Hollow, where he dedicated himself to the Cooperative Extension and embraced his passion as a Master Gardener. Werner found joy in collecting and identifying wildflowers, displaying his findings at local county fairs, and nurturing the earth around him. His love for nature was matched only by his deep desire to share that passion with others, leaving a lasting impact on his community.

Werner is predeceased by his beloved parents, Philipp G. and Adel Schuessler.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Marieanne Schuessler; his loving brother Philipp Schuessler; and his children, Heidi Babcock, Tammy Schuessler, Christopher Schuessler, and Peter Schuessler. He will be deeply missed by his son-in-law Eric Babcock, daughters-in-law Bobbi Ann Schuessler and Denyse Schuessler, as well as his cherished granddaughters Lindsey, Nicole, and Ellen, and great-grandson Christopher Joseph.

A funeral service in honor of Werner's life will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, November 9th, at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville, with burial to follow.

We invite all who knew and loved Werner to join us in celebrating his remarkable life. In this time of sorrow, we extend our heartfelt condolences to all who have been touched by Werner's kindness and wisdom. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will continue to inspire us all.
