Obituary of Gilbert F. Drollette
HANNACROIX – Gilbert F. Drollette, a proud member of the United States Army, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2024 after a short battle with cancer.
Gil was born in Plattsburgh to the late Bernard and Hazel Drollette. He attended Dover Plains High School, and enlisted in the United States Army in 1968, and was honorably discharged in 1971. In that time, he received multiple medals for his courage, heroism, and service. He devoted his life to public service, volunteering his time to multiple fire companies in New York and Connecticut. He worked at Coxsackie Correctional Facility for 33 1/3 years, retiring in 2015. Gil enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He would spend as much time as he could with his family. And of course, he enjoyed his morning trips to Stewart’s for lottery tickets and coffee, and an opportunity to see his Stewart’s girls. Gil could always be counted on for a good joke or story that could put a smile on anyone’s face.
Gil is survived by his wife of 50 years, Deborah Drollette; his brother, Bernard Drollette (Angie) of SC; his son, Kip Drollette (Meghan Citro) of Greenville; his daughter, Cindy Cerone (Jimmy) of Wappingers Falls; his son, Mike Drollette of Wappingers Falls; his daughter, Tina Masterson (Mike) of Berne; his son, Jay Rhodes (Lee) of PA; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Thursday, October 24th from 5 to 8 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. The funeral will be Friday, October 25th at 8:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial with honors in Saratoga National Cemetery.
