Florence Saitta

Obituary of Florence Saitta

Florence (Felicia) Saitta was born on November 30, 1924 in Queens, NY. She was one of four children born to Italian immigrants, the late Michael and Donna DeMartino. The family lived in Brooklyn, NY and the decision was made for Florence to leave school as a young teen to care for the home as her parents worked long hours in the NYC garment district. While still a young woman, Florence met her future husband, Frank Saitta, but plans for marriage would have to wait as Frank had been called to serve his country during World War II. The couple later married in Brooklyn, resided there for a few years, then moved to Long Island to raise their children. Retirement years saw the couple relocate to upstate NY to enjoy the peaceful country life.

Florence was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her greatest satisfaction came from filling her home with her loved ones and filling everyone up with delicious food! She was also known to enjoy her trips to the nearby casinos with her friends!

She was a hardworking member of the Hiawatha Grange Senior Center where she could be found in the kitchen cooking, or the dining room cleaning up after meals.

In addition to her parents Florence is predeceased by her husband Frank Saitta, her sisters Ann Passero and Virginia Meola, and her brother Frank DeMartino.

Florence is survived by her son Frank Saitta and his children; Frank Saitta Jr., Christina Muise, Lisa Taliercio, and Diana Poole, her daughter Diane Pagliarulo (Eugene) and their sons Paul, Daniel, Michael, and Joseph Pagliarulo, as well as her son Anthony (Darlene) Saitta Sr.; and their children, Anthony Saitta Jr., Felicia Minkler, and Erica Bu.

She also leaves behind 18 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great- grandchildren.

The Lord gave Florence 99 years of life on this earth to build her legacy of love before he called her home to glory on the evening of Friday, September 6, 2024. And with such a large and loving family we are confident that our legacy will live on through the generations.
