Joyce (Smith) Hughes

Joyce (Smith) Hughes, 80, of Delmar, NY., passed away on Wednesday August 14, 2024. Born in Albany on August 27, 1943 to the late Mary (Miller) and Marshall Smith. A graduate of GCHS, Class of 1961, Joyce started her Postal career in 1969 and after 22 years of service she retired in Jacksonville, Fla. Joyce loved camping, playing Bingo and working in her flower beds. Joyce was predeceased by her husband of 35 years, John Hughes III (Jack). Together they resided in Florida for 27 wonderful years.

Survivors include her children, Douglas (Nellie) Yeomans, Laura (Elmer) McDonald, Ronald (Dawn) Hughes, Timothy (Val) Hughes; brother, Clarence (Carol) Smith; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a niece and nephew. Joyce was also predeceased by her loving Chihuahua “Max” of 16 years.

Friends and Family are invited to celebrate her life on Sunday, Sept 1, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Henry Hudson Park Pavilion located at 169 Lyons Road, Selkirk, NY 12158.

Interment of her cremains will be on Saturday, Sept 7, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rensselaerville Cemetery in Rensselaerville, NY.
