Obituary of Bridget Daly
CAIRO - Bridget Daly, known to her niece and nephews as “Aunt B,” was born in 1974 in Manhattan, and passed away on Saturday, August 3, 2024. She grew up in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. In her early years, Aunt B was known for her creativity and for being the life of the party. She played many instruments and attended the renowned School of Art & Design. She later earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Manhattan College and worked in the field for over seven years before falling ill.
During her time at Manhattan College and throughout her career, Aunt B was deeply involved in the Pipe Band, which she took great pride in and held many fond memories of. She worked her way up the ranks to become the Pipe Major, a position she held until her illness prevented her from continuing to play. Her friends and family cherish many memories of her love for the band.
After her illness, she moved from Riverdale to live with her parents in the Catskills, where she remained for 20 years. While living in the Catskills, she attended the College of Saint Rose through the Moving Message program. She was deeply passionate about her studies and spent her time in the Catskills keeping up with school, tending to her garden, and enjoying quality time with family. Aunt B took great pride in being an aunt and made her niece and nephews feel so loved.
She stayed in the Catskills until she contracted COVID, surviving a hard-fought battle on a ventilator in a coma for 55 days. Afterward, she moved closer to her family in Putnam County for the remaining two years of her life. Despite her illness, Aunt B was full of life. She was deeply loved and leaves behind countless memories of laughter.
Bridget “Aunt B” is survived by her sister, Julia Stock; her brother in law Harri Stock; niece & nephews, Irene, Dr. Timothy, & Maximilian Stock; her aunt & uncles Julia Mary (Paddy Joe); uncles Connie and Johnny; and her many cousins Julia, Connie, Patrick, Sharon, Michael, Rosarie, Declan, Kieran, Dominic, JJ, Niall, Fiona, Claire, Bernadette, Gerard, Fred, Sinead, Peter, Mary Bridget, and Breeda.
