Obituary of Eva Macko

Eva Macko, 95, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Freehold, NY on Friday, July 26, 2024.

Born in Catskill, NY on April 10, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Metro and Eva (Melnyk) Solian.

Eva grew up in Cementon and graduated from Catskill High School in 1947.

On June 25, 1950, she married Andrew H. Macko. Together, they shared 59 wonderful years of marriage and raised five children.

Eva was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and caregiver. A woman of strong faith, she was a devout communicant of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Eva was predeceased by her daughter, Jacqueline Bogardus; son-in-law, Brian Bogardus; and her siblings: Ann Corkery, Kathryn Aubrey, Julia Desco, Mary Dellevchia, Rose Solian, Helen Foster, and Metro Solian.

She is survived by her children: Andrew J. Macko (Patricia), Paul Macko, Gloria Savino (Joseph), and Mary Ferrer (Daniel); granddaughters: Alyson Savino, Andrea Macko, Payge DiMasi (Michael), and Loriel Melanson (Dean); and great-grandchildren: Eva, Andrew, Christopher, Mason, Addie, Cassie, and Jackson.

Visitation will be Friday, August 2 at 1 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, 4987 State Route 81 in Greenville. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the church at 2 p.m., followed by burial in the Greenville Cemetery.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Community Hospice staff and to caregivers Amy Keyser and Lise VanderPyle for the wonderful care they provided for Gram.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Greenville Area Food Pantry in Eva’s memory would be appreciated.
