William Moak Obituary

ATHENS – William A. Moak, 94, passed away on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at St. Peter’s Hospital. Born in Schenectady on August 8, 1918, he was son of the late Arthur J. and Carrie Underdahl Moak. Mr. Moak formerly resided on Rarick Road in Selkirk for many years. He was a decorated Army veteran of World War II, receiving the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He was a self-employed truck driver for several years before going to work for Callanan Industries in South Bethlehem, retiring as a superintendent after over 30 years of service. Mr. Moak was a longtime member of Jerusalem Reformed Church in Feura Bush. He enjoyed traveling, especially several cross-country adventures to Laughlin, Nevada with his wife. He also enjoyed camping and snowmobiling. Recently, Mr. Moak resided with his daughter and son-in-law. Mr. Moak is survived by four children, William (late Paulette) Moak of Coeymans Hollow, Roger (Linda) Moak of Sebastian, Fla., Karen (Peter) Boeri of Athens and Laurie (Robert) Kelly of Saugerties; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Eleanor (late John) Verenini of Calif. and Edna (Bill) Streets of Va.; two sisters-in-law, Betty and Barbara Moak; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Moak is predeceased by his beloved wife, Grace A. Peck Moak; four brothers, Jacob Lavoen Moak, Robert H., James D. and Herbert C. Moak. Calling hours will be Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville, followed by the funeral at 3 p.m. Burial will be in the spring.
