Obituary of Robert P. Mirabelli
RENSSELAER - On Monday, April 15, 2024, our dearest brother, uncle, and friend lost his year-long battle with cancer.
Robert Mirabelli was born on June 15, 1952, in Catskill, NY, to Sam and Rosina (Melfi) Mirabelli. He grew up in Greenville and graduated from Greenville Central School and SUNY New Paltz. He worked for Key Corps for many years as an operations analyst and resided in Rensselaer, NY.
Robert was an avid reader whose interests included history, philosophy, fiction, and health. He was always eager to share his knowledge (and opinions!) and enjoyed a healthy debate. Other interests included sports of all kinds both as a participant and an observer. He never traveled without baseball gloves and a basketball in his car. He could also spew sports statistics at the drop of a hat.
Robert’s eclectic taste in music was a big part of his life; he was both a creator and a listener. Gardening was another passion and his yard was ever changing with many unusual varieties.
Although he had many interests, what we will truly remember him for was his sense of humor, compassion, care, and genuine love for his family and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents and is survived by his siblings, Thomas (Linda), Eileen Mirabelli Elsbree, and Linda Mirabelli (David Lord). Also surviving are his beloved nephew and nieces Caleb Elsbree (Ella Prince), Alida Elsbree Fabian (Mike), Liz Mirabelli Nye (Dan), Emma Lord (Zach Lyford) and Rita Lord (Steven Lenz); grand nieces Eva and Cori Fabian and grand nephew Sam Fabian. In addition, he will be greatly missed by Lisa Seychel and many other close friends.
Visitation will be Friday, April 19th from 4-7pm at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville. There will be a funeral service at A.J. Cunningham’s at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 20th followed by interment at the Greenville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at givenow.lls.org or to Community Hospice at communityhospice.org. Condolence page is available at ajcunninghamfh.com.
