Obituary of Francis M. Sharkey

GREENVILLE – Francis M. “Frank” Sharkey, 66, passed away suddenly at his residence on Thursday, April 11, 2024.

            Frank was born in the Bronx on February 9, 1958, a son of the late Francis and Kathleen Ferris Sharkey.  The family moved to Greenville when Frank was in middle school.  He went on to graduate from Greenville High School.  Frank worked for more than 40 years as a member of Local 7 Plumber and Steamfitters Union.  He was a skilled member and held numerous positions in this trade.  Following retirement, he has worked for the New York State Power Authority for the last 10 years.  Frank attended St. John the Baptist Church in Greenville.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was an avid sports fan, especially watching his grandchildren playing sports.  He devoted his life to ensuring that each of his family members pursued their dreams.

            Frank is survived by his wife, Bernadette Quackenbush Sharkey; five children, Matthew (Morgan Storms) Sharkey, Erin Sharkey, Sarah (Keith) Lochner, Daniel (Stephanie) Sharkey, and Christopher Sharkey; five grandchildren, Aidan, Gavin, Addison, Christopher, and Ryan; his siblings, John (Stephanie) Sharkey, and Maryann Halloran; nieces, nephews and cousins.

            Calling hours will be Tuesday, April 16th from 4 until 7 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville.  A memorial mass will be held on Wednesday, April 17th at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 4987 State Route 81, Greenville, followed by burial of his ashes in Greenville Cemetery.
