Obituary of James J. Harden

James J. Harden, 91 years of East Durham, NY passed away on Mar. 3, 2010 in The Pines at Catskill, Catskill, NY. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on Aug. 21, 1918, son of the late James and Anna Harden. James served his country during WWII in the US Army attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was a Carpenter and was employed by Shippie Contractors until his retirement. He also enjoyed photography and fishing. James was a member of the Durham Valley American Legion Post # 1416 and was Past Commander and Sergeant at Arms. Besides his parents James was predeceased by his wife, Rose (Ferguson) Harden in 2005, a grandson, John Beers and a brother, Vincent Harden. Surviving are his two daughters, Kathleen Beers of East Durham, NY and Linda Hull (Steven) of Deer Lodge, TN, five grandchildren, Barbara Beers, Jason Patterson, Melissa Hull (Jamie Letner), Harley Hull and Jennifer Scott (Steve) and five great grandchildren, Cheyenne Letner, Hannah Rae Hull, Mason Hull, Stevie Scott and Grace Scott. Funeral service will be Sunday, Mar. 7, 2010 at 5 PM at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 SR 81, Greenville, NY 12083. Friends may call at the funeral home prior to the service from 3 to 5 PM. Interment will be Monday 11 AM in the Town of Catskill Cemetery, Jefferson Heights, Catskill, NY. The Durham Valley American Legion Post # 1416 will conduct a service at the funeral home on Sunday at 4:30 PM. Those who wish may contribute in James' memory to the Durham Valley American Legion Post#1416.
