Bob was born in

Bob was an avid outdoorsman since his youth. He enjoyed hiking, fishing, mountain climbing, and canoeing. He climbed the Catskills in his youth and was very proud to be a 46er, climbing all the peaks of the
To his grandchildren, Bob was also known as the “Cookie Monster”, sneaking them cookies before meals. He would tell stories to his children and grandchildren about the Gnomes that lived in the woods. He loved nature and animals, especially his dogs. Bob also loved music and had a lovely voice. He played the guitar, mandolin, “Fiddle”, and harmonica. For many years, he and Mimi were square dancers and also loved ballroom dancing.
Survivors are his son, Robert “Bobby” Henckel Jr. and wife, Robin Richards; daughter Kathleen “Cassie” Henckel Malone and husband, Jack Malone; grandchildren, Jessica Malone Stauffer and husband, Marc Stauffer, Sean Malone, Kelly Malone Mann and husband, Harold Mann; great-grandson, Jack Stauffer; step-grandchildren, Laura Malone Navatta and Karen Malone; sister-in-law, Jo Meagher Nelson. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Miriam “Mimi” Meagher Henckel; his parents; and brother, Edmond Henckel.
