Mary Huston

Obituary of Mary Rose Huston

Mary Rose Huston of Coxsackie passed away on Sunday October 15, 2023, she was 80 years old. Born on September 19, 1943, to the late Robert and Catherine Huston she grew up in Stillwater Minnesota, then moving to Chicago, and Queens, later settling in Earlton where she resided for 37 years, until she moved to Coxsackie with her daughter, son in law and grandson in February of 2023.

Most of her life, Mary worked in administration roles for hospitals and healthcare facilities like Elmhurst General in Queens, and the Hospital for Joint Disease in NYC. After moving to upstate NY, she worked at   Eden Park Nursing Home in Catskill as a receptionist until she completed her greatest accomplishment in life by becoming a nurse at age 50 and continuing at the same facility.

Mary was a free spirit who loved sci-fi movies, a good book, BINGO, and her garden. She was the loudest laugh in the room. She had a kind word for every stranger and often let them know they were her Angel for the day. She liked to give more than she received. She loved to sew in her early years, creating Barbie outfits and Halloween costumes, and later she would crochet blankets for everyone, including people she just met. She spent some time in Hawaii for the birth of her grandchild, but also loved traveling to Minnesota (back home) and Florida for family Disney World vacations. In the last year of her life, she enjoyed the Coxsackie Senior Center and loved her Meals on Wheels visitors. She enjoyed sitting on the back porch bird watching and reading.

Besides her parents she is predeceased by her brothers Bobby, John and Roy, as well as her sister Kathleen and her life partner John Gabrielsen.

Survivors include her daughter Heidi Mandato, son-in-law James Mandato, and grandchildren Noah and Gunner. Her sons Richard Majeski, Francis Majeski, daughter-in-law Joyce Majeski and grandson Joshua. Son Glen Majeski, and granddaughters Amanda, Hailey, and Cassandra. As well as her great granddaughters Madison, Logyn and Nora.

She will be missed dearly.
