Kimberly Jean Boomhower
Kimberly Jean Boomhower, 52, passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s
Hospital Hospice Care on July 28, 2023. She was surrounded by her
loving family who supported her throughout Kim’s battle of five and a
half years with ovarian cancer.
Kim was born on September 14, 1970 in Catskill, New York to the late Clayton “Sonny”
Barkman and Marueen (O’Neill) Farinelli. She was raised in Greenville, NY, and
graduated from Greenville Central School. Kim taught religious education at St. John the
Baptist’s Roman Catholic Church, assisted for many years with Hudson Valley’s Little
League baseball program, and organized teams for the annual Teal Ribbon Run/Walk to
end ovarian cancer. She worked for over 28 years as an administrator in the Law Offices
of Erwin, McCane and Daly.
Kim is survived by her husband, Robert Boomhower; her sons: Joseph Boomhower and
Matthew (Melanie) Boomhower; stepdaughter Melinda Stewart; stepson Steven
Boomhower; her grandchildren: Caden Boomhower, Ketchem Boomhower, Oaklynn
Boomhower; step-grandchildren: Zackery Burns, Dustin Rhodes; sister Dawn (Jerry)
Finin; stepmother Dorothy Barkman; stepbrothers: Adam (Karen) Taber and Darin
(Mary) Taber; Jon Farinelli, Peter (Jessica) Farinelli, and Jenny (predeceased Bruce)
Farinelli; Stepsisters: Teresa (predeceased Nick) Amedure, Carol (Ronnie) Duncan,
Rebecca (Anthony) Farinelli, Susan (Donny) Persico, and Kelly (Frank) Thierbecker.
She is also survived by her husband’s siblings: Michael (Kathy) Boomhower, Kim (Ed)
Tobio, Tracy (Emily) Boomhower, Sheri Kowlewski; nieces: Bethany Becker, Lauren
Boomhower, Ashley (Jon) Dorn, Sarah Sclera, Shannon (Rich) Slater, Amanda Tobio;
nephews: Ryan Becker; Adam Boomhower, Kevin Boomhower, Marc (Jessica) Tobio,
great-nieces: Hailey Becker, Isabelle Ambrose, Makayla Sclera; great-nephews: Alex
Slater and Kaleb Slater.
Kim was predeceased by her parents, her stepfather Bruce Farinelli, and her sister
Patricia Van Dyke.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, Aug 12, 2023, with calling hours from
10:00 am to noon at the Church of Saint Patrick in Ravena, followed by Holy Mass. In
lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Caring Together Ovarian Cancer Research
