Obituary of Karen F. Cashell
CAIRO – Karen Feeney Cashell, 63, passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at her residence.
Born in New York City on September 1, 1959, she was a daughter of the late John J. and Mary “Fran” McHugh Feeney, and wife of the late Joseph P. Cashell. Karen was raised in Elmhurst, Queens, and was a graduate of Ascension School and St. Michael’s High School. She moved to Cairo in 1989 and became employed at The Bank of Greene County, retiring 20 years ago due to illness. Karen and her late husband were the owners of The Claddagh Inn in East Durham. She was a communicant of Our Lady of Knock Shrine in East Durham.
Survivors include her daughter, Antonina Cashell; her siblings, Mary Jeanne (Vincent) Cashell, and Sean (Mary) Feeney; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Karen was also predeceased by her sister, Debbie Doohan.
Calling hours will be Thursday, June 1st from 4 to 8 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. Funeral Mass will be offered on Friday, June 2nd at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Knock Shrine, 2052 State Route 145, East Durham, followed by burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Catskill.
