Obituary of Martha Hillicoss

                    Martha Hillicoss, 93, of Surprise, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.  Martha was born in Manhattan, NY on May 29, 1929, to the late Robert Elpel Sr. and Martha (Tielsch) Elpel. She grew up in East Durham on the family farm, and met her husband, Clifford, while working at the Elm Rest House. They married and made their home in Surprise, raising three children, Marilyn, Fred, and Joyce.

                    Martha was a member of the Greenville Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening, and Dominos with the girls.

Martha worked for New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and retired after 25 years.

                    She is survived by daughter Joyce Van Deusen; sisters, Gertrude Smith and Elizabeth Weber; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.

                    Calling hours will begin at 1:00 PM with a funeral service at 3:30 PM on Sunday June 4, 2023 at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home in Greenville.
