Obituary of Patrick J. Gough
Patrick J. Gough
July 3, 1947 - May 5, 2023
Patrick “Pop” Gough passed away peacefully May 5, 2023 with his wife Janet, his three sons, his
sisters and grandchildren by his side. Born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada July 3, 1947. Patrick, his
siblings and parents, Gerard and Hilda Gough emigrated to Ravena, New York in 1952.
Growing up in Ravena, he met Janet Stalker, they married in 1969 and will have their 54th
wedding anniversary this June. Pat and Janet have three sons, Tyler, Michael and Matthew. They moved
to Greenville, N.Y. in 1974 and raised their boys. Pat was active coaching his son's little league teams
and was the Cub Scout Master for Troop 42 in Greenville for several years.
Patrick was employed by the NYS Thruway Authority for 32 years. His career began as a
foreman in Syracuse N.Y., advancing positions throughout his career retiring from headquarters in Albany,
N.Y as the supervisor of bridge maintenance.
Pat had a great love for all things outdoors. He took great pride in sharing his interests and
knowledge with his boys, grandkids, nephews and nieces. Family camping trips to Indian Lake (a labrador
retriever included), in a duck blind or chasing striped bass on the Hudson River, he loved being on the
water and introducing these experiences to his family and friends.
Patrick valued the relationships he built with a close knit circle of life long friends. From his
Ravena pals to his Greenville crew, he loved and cherished those bonds.
There was nothing more important or brought Pop greater joy than his family. As a proud dad of
his three sons he guided them to become the successful men and dad’s they are today. Pat played an
instrumental role to Jason, who was more of a son than a nephew and his niece Erin. Being a grandfather
aka “Pop” to Meghan, Sydney, Luca, Hudson, Asher, Lauren and Jordan outshined everyone and
anything in Pop’s world, with one exception, his partner, soulmate, friend and wife Janet.
Patrick adored Janet, a team for 54 years, accomplishing things as parents and partners that are
the foundation of his legacy. Whether raising their boys, taking a trip or doing chores together around the
house, Pat was always the other half of Janet and vice versa. Her meatballs, chicken parm and baked
goods were always a welcome staple for Pop. The unspoken appreciation that Patrick had for Janet as
her role expanded during his last few years was a testament to their bond.
Patrick is survived by his wife Janet Gough, son’s, Tyler, Michael (Amber) and Matthew (Reagan),
nephew, Jason Gough and niece Erin Kinn. Grandchildren, Meghan Gough, Sydney Gough, Luca Gough,
Hudson Gough, Asher Gough, great nieces, Lauren Kinn and Jordan Kinn. Siblings, Cecile (Michael)
Mulhern , Ann Goff, and Geraldine Duesberry. Brother in-law’s Robert (Tammy) Stalker and Douglas
Stalker, Tom (Doreen) Lynch as well as many nieces and nephews who enjoyed Pop’s pond.
The Gough family would like to thank Erica O’Brien and Bess Mulhern for the amazing care they
showed Patrick during the last few days of his journey.
