Frank Tiberi

Obituary of Frank Tiberi

GREENVILLE – Frank Tiberi, 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at the Fireman’s Home in Hudson.

Born in Queens on March 14, 1932, he was son of the late Abbondio and Josephine Garzo Tiberi.  Frank moved to Greenville from Forest Hills with his wife, Anita, their infant daughter Terry, and Anita's parents.  Frank and his father-in-law opened and ran the Sunoco gas station on South Street.  When his father-in-law passed away, Frank bought the station from his mother-in-law.  Frank and Anita opened a liquor store adjacent to the gas station.  While running both businesses, he went to night school at the College of St. Rose in Albany and became a real estate broker and insurance agent.

Frank was an active member of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the Rotary Club of Greenville, and former Supervisor of the Town of Greenville.  During this time he also ran the Greenville Water District and was instrumental in providing better tasting water to the district.

One of his proudest accomplishments was being an active member, Past President, and now lifetime member of the Greenville Volunteer Fire Company.  He saw the need for a rescue squad and was one of the founding members and Captain of the Greenville Rescue Squad.  After more evening classes, he became an EMT.  Many a meal or car repair was interrupted by the siren heard coming from the fire house!

Frank is survived by his daughters, Theresa Tiberi, Linda (Bob) Watterson, Francesca Connell, Antoinette Tiberi, and Melissa (Todd) Dunican; 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; step-sons, John (Becky), Greg (Kayla), and Cesar (Dawn).  In addition to his parents, Frank was predeceased by his wife, Anita Friedewald Tiberi.
