Obituary of Janice M. Rothe

NISKAYUNA - Janice M. Rothe, 95, passed away Thursday April 6, 2023 at Ellis Hospital. She was born in Manhattan on December 18, 1927 to the late John and Violet Perkins Gallow. Raised in Flushing, she was a graduate of St. John’s University. She married Frederick Rothe Jr. in October 1956 and they moved to Huntington Long Island where they started their family. In 1973 they built a house at O'Hara Corners in Freehold and moved to Greene County permanently. Janice worked as an RN at the former Eden Park Nursing Home in Catskill. She was a devout Catholic, having attended St. John’s Church in Greenville before going into assisted living. She enjoyed traveling with Fred and Johnny around the country in their travel trailer and spending many winters in Florida. She loved lighthouses, flowers, and birds. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Rothe, Jr., and her daughter, Kathleen Rothe Goldblum.

Janice is survived by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth (Robert) Wright; sons, Bill (Danielle), John, Fred III; grandchildren, Sam (Rachelle) Rothe, Ashley Rothe, Shelby Baldwin, and Mary Kate Baldwin; great grandson, Jack Rothe; and sister, Pat Chisolm.

Calling hours will be held on Friday April 14th from 5 to 7pm at the A. J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. A graveside service will be held on Saturday April 15th at 1pm at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Catskill. Condolences can be posted at ajcunninghamfh.com.
