Obituary of Michelle Lynn Wyant
Michelle Wyant (41), born August 12, 1981 passed away comfortably in the peace of her mother's house on Saturday March 4, 2023. Michelle fought an incredibly brave battle with breast cancer. First diagnosed while pregnant with her youngest daughter in June of 2016. Although experiencing some of the hardest news anyone could ever receive, she still maintained the passion to care for others and her will to experience life. Although biologically a mother to three, she was referred to as mom by many kids in the area. She enjoyed spending her time celebrating whenever she could and showering her children with love. Graduating from Rhinebeck high school in 2000, she moved on to Dutchess community college completing a degree in children's mental health. On December 5th, 2001, she had her first child, Julia Manns. She spent a short period of her life in Florida before returning to New York. On February 1, 2012, she gave birth to another beautiful girl, Madelyn Dedrick. A few short years later, Abigail Dedrick was born August 29th 2016. She volunteered at multiple organizations but her favorite was being a Girl Scout leader. She worked several different jobs. Michelle really enjoyed working as a teachers assistant (she referred to many of the kids as her own and she missed them dearly when she left) and as a Children's Case worker. Her favorite thing to do was to spend time with family, she had gotten very close to her aunts and her younger cousins. She spent a lot of her free time traveling, making memories and going to the beach! (she also thoroughly enjoyed annoying her brother Adam and father Robert)
I (Adam Wyant) would like to thank everyone that has helped make Michelle's journey as smooth as possible. Both my younger cousins, Emily Hey and Heidi Hey. Roger Zeller for his patience and compassion. Carolyn Hey who helped not only Michelle but also Michelle's kids tremendously. My father Robert for using every excuse he could come up with to go visit (if Michelle said she wanted ginger ale he would travel 2 hours to make sure she got it). My mother Karen for opening her arms and being steadfast in giving Michelle what she wanted; the peace of passing outside of the hospital setting. Julia’s long term boyfriend for flying in from the Netherlands to be by her side. All the friends that have stayed by her side and have reached out, it meant the world not only to Michelle but to everyone who was going through it with her.
She is survived by her grandmother Carol A. Jacobs of Ellsworth Maine. Grandparents on her father's side, Anna Mae and Robert E Wyant of Rhinebeck, whom she was very fond of. Her father and stepmother Robert and Janeane Wyant. Her mother and stepfather Karen and Roger Zeller. Half-sister Bridget Wyant. Half-brother Racin Jason Wyant and his wife Denise Wyant. Her younger brother Adam Wyant and his wife Nichole Edwards. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins whom she had a very special bond with. Her three wonderful children, Julia Manns, Madelyn and Abigail Dedrick (abba-dabba-doo).
Michelle always loved with everything she had, right up until her last day. In honor of Michelle we ask that you hug your children a few minutes longer every night. Any donations can be made to the gofundme under Michelle's name, “Ally's wish” or “Breast Cancer Research Foundation”
