Obituary of Ruth E. Birmann
AVERILL PARK – Ruth E. Turon Birmann, age 89, passed away at her daughter’s home on Friday, November 2, 2012 after a brief illness. Born at home in Alcove on July 10, 1923, she was daughter of the late George and Mary Kaczinsky Turon. Ruth was a graduate of Greenville Central School. She and her late husband, Walter J. Birmann Sr., moved to Schroon Lake where she ran a bed & breakfast. Ruth and Walt were winter residents of North Port, Florida for many years. Ruth cooked for the Meals on Wheels program. In later years, she became a NASCAR fan. Ruth had a witty personality with an immense flair for life – she enjoyed having fun, making everyone laugh and living life to the fullest. She was devoted to family and friends, both immediate and extended, and will be greatly missed by all.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Carole Byrne (Michael); her son-in-law, V. Michael Donovan; her stepsons, Walter J. Birmann (Cookie) and Carl W. Birmann; sister, Elsie Turon and sister-in-law, Martha Turon; nine grandchildren, Robin Birmann Richards, Theresa Rousseau, Pamela Byrne Hietala, Maureen Byrne, Todd and Tyson Birmann, Patricia Postanowicz, Christopher Donovan and Denise Byrne; ten great-grandchildren; her devoted nephew, Arthur Klussendorf in addition to several other nieces, nephews and cousins. Ruth was predeceased by her daughter, Janice Donovan; and siblings, Mary, George, Joseph, John, Charles and Mildred Turon and Helen Koch.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, November 7 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. The funeral will begin at noon, followed by burial in Alcove Cemetery.
