MEDUSA - James Bashwinger, 68, passed away peacefully on Tuesday January 24, 2023 at

Greene Meadows Nursing Home in Catskill. Known by friends and family as either Jim or Pooh,

he was born in Albany on November 2, 1954 to the late Edward and Nancy Foley Bashwinger.

After graduating highschool, Jim joined the Navy in 1973, where he became a corpsman for the

Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged in 1983, and began working for the Albany County

Highway Dept., retiring as a Highway Foreman. Pooh enjoyed riding motorcycles, racing ice

racers, camping, raising mischief, and especially spending time with friends and family. In

addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brothers, Edward, Warren, and Michael

Bashwinger, and Walter Hacker.

Pooh is survived by his wife, Mary-Ann Peters Bashwinger; his brothers, Wayne,

Frederick, Peter, and Randy (Jessica) Bashwinger; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces

and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.

Jim has been privately cremated. Memorial calling hours will be held on Friday January

27th from 5 to 7pm at the A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, Greenville. A celebration of his life

will take place in the mid summer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the
