We have all lost a great friend, fire company Brother, fellow camper and will miss all our stories we shared about camping, hunting and fire fighting. There was never a nicer couple than Steve and Gail. We were at their home to play games with the grandchildren who adored them (and all the snacks!) working at Cunninghams it was like we had “inside family” and he always knew the right things to say. Heaven has indeed gained an Angel. We will miss you Steve- say hello to Gail ♥️

I know Steve from Stewarts in Greenville, where I work every other weekend. Steve and "the boys" would come in at night, sit at their table with coffee and scratch offs.. they would sit and "shoot the breeze" for hours... laugh, share... Steve would often come up and hand me a dollar and say "pick me a winner Laura".. LOL. .I told him I am not very lucky but I would sure try :) I think the "luck" only worked once, when he won $10.00. Steve was such a sweet, gentle, kind man. I and our Stewart's staff... will sure miss him <3

Gaye,
We send our most sincere sympathy. John and Willie were life long pals and yet never knew this was your dad.
He was a familiar face to all in this community and we are saddened to learn of his passing.

My Uncle Steven was more like my big older brother my entire adult life. I have SO many memories of many happy times. Hunting together (I shot my first buck when I was 14 while hunting with him), our 4 wheeler trips up north with friends like Rodney Gaebel and Francis “Huggy” Huggins. The annual snowmobile trips to Franklin County to Charlie’s Inn and Bill Jost’s Meacham Lake Inn. I think every owner of every tavern that you could get to on a snowmobile knew Uncle Steve and I’m sure they looked forward to his visits every year! Uncle Steven loved camping after his retirement and he and Aunt Gail were quick to make new friends wherever they went and many remained lifelong friends. I always thought Uncle Steve was the perfect individual for his profession as a funeral director. He showed compassion to all who lost loved ones while always being able to provide some brevity. He loved telling stories, some could tend to be a little exaggerated, but I never once got tired of listening to them. I am so grateful for and am already missing my big brother, Uncle Steven.

Our lives were touched by this sweet man. He was part of our "Train" ....our dominoes buddys.
Steve always had a ready smile and a story to share....camping, cooking pork for his hunting club, caring for Gaye's pup, Stewart's crew lottery winners, high school antics (sneaking out of class to buy beer), driving his principal's car, reminding us the value of a double blank if you played in South Carolina, his yearly trips to join friends in the south and the list goes on.
Our sympathy to Gaye, his beloved daughter.
Praying that Steve is enjoying a joyous reunion as we mourn his passing.

I am so sorry to hear of Steve's passing. We had alot of laughs when Scott & Steve came for Sunday breakfast at the diner. He always wore his smile. Thinking of Gaye and the family during this very difficult time.
