Obituary of Frank W. Schnare

Frank W. Schnare, 82, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, September 23, 2022, at Greene Meadows in Catskill.

Born in Catskill on December 28, 1939, he was a son of the late Henry E. and Erna Bauer Schnare, and husband of the late Ellen DeGraw Schnare.  Frank was raised on the family farm in Hannacroix and was a graduate of Greenville Central School.  In addition to the family farm, he worked many different jobs, lastly as a Corrections Officer at Coxsackie Correctional Facility, retiring due to a disability.  He owned his own gun shop, and was a member of Coxsackie Sportsman’s Club and a life member of NRA.  He was an avid trap and target shooter, enjoyed hunting, and telling tall tales.

Frank is survived by his daughters, Amanda (Danny) Anderson, and Erin Erno; four grandchildren, including Chelsea Anderson (Michael Casazza), Abby Erno, Evan and Olivia Pelletier.  In addition to his parents and wife, Frank was predeceased by his siblings, Henry Schnare and Ruth Sutton.

Frank has been cremated privately.  A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Coxsackie Sportsman’s Club-Scholastic Trap Program, P.O. Box 213, Coxsackie, NY 12051 will be appreciated.  Condolence page is available at ajcunninghamfh.com.
