Hannay, Doris E. WESTERLO – Doris Elizabeth Hannay, age 93, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2012 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn after a brief illness. She was born in Greenville on March 31, 1919, daughter of the late Roscoe and Elizabeth Finch Velie. Doris, known as “Gram” to everyone, was a lifelong resident of Westerlo. She was the oldest living member of the First Baptist Church of Westerlo, where she was a Sunday school teacher and longtime member of the M.B.I. Guild. Doris is survived by her daughter, Carol (David) Guilzon and daughter-in-law, Marilyn Hannay all of Westerlo; grandchildren, Melody (David) Rebeor of Westerlo, Mark (Jodi) Guilzon of Tanzania, Scott (Beverly) Hannay of Westerlo, Sherri (Steve) Gerhardt of Lansing, MI, Shaun (Diane) Hannay of Redmond, OR, Michael (Gayle) Hannay of Westerlo; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis (Richard) Hannay of Lindale, GA; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Doris was predeceased by her husband, Dwight C. Hannay; her son, Robert D. Hannay; and her great-grandson, Joshua Gerhardt. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Doris was held at the First Baptist Church of Westerlo on Thursday Oct. 18th.
