Obituary of Phyllis L. Boomhower
CATSKILL – Phyllis L. Boomhower, 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 3, 2022 in The Pines at Catskill.
Phyllis Louise Guldenstern was born in Catskill on June 8, 1934, a daughter of the late Frederick and Mary Louise McLaughlin Guldenstern. She married Alfred D. “Don” Boomhower on June 20, 1954 in the First Baptist Church in Catskill. They lived in Catskill until moving to Kingston in 1967 with Don’s employment at IBM. They returned to Leeds after Don retired in 2005. Don predeceased her on March 21, 2016 after almost 62 years of marriage. Phyllis was a former member of Grace Baptist Church in Freehold, and a current member of Full Life Church in Catskill. She enjoyed craft work, cooking and baking, and was very active in church life.
Phyllis is survived by her grandchildren, Christa Boomhower, Matthew (Amanda) Lennon, and Sara Lennon; her great-granddaughter, Caliyah; her brother, David L. (Jodi) Guldenstern of Catskill; and her niece, Erin L. Guldenstern of Catskill. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Mark D. Boomhower; and her foster son, Donald Lennon.
Phyllis has been cremated privately. All are invited to attend the graveside service on Monday, September 12th at 1 p.m. in the Westerlo Rural Cemetery, State Route 143, Westerlo. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Word of Life Fellowship, Inc., Schroon Lake, NY 12870 or to Full Life Church, 3 Bogardus Avenue, Catskill, NY 12414 will be appreciated.
