Sue, Darren, Jess, Greg, and Debbie,
I have so many memories of Bill, who I came to personally know in the mid 70's - "quite a character" doesn't even come close! His mustang - my first ride on a snowmobile, some of my first trips out to "the site" on the Hudson and Lake George camping. As a young girl I took many a field trip to the orchards with school and Brownies - picking apples, the smell of the cider press - I can smell it now.
I remember when you twins were born -- prouder parents couldn't be found. Twin jewels. Then Greg was born... Greg, your spirit reminds me most of your Dad's --- you are your own person with firm beliefs, and a fantastic sense of humor.
Though your lives took very different paths, Deb, you and Bill shared a good chunk of your life and memories. I always fear that former spouses will be left behind -- I recognize your grief in this loss. Your different life paths can't erase your shared years... the beautiful children you raised and the memories you still have of your years together.
Sue - I could see the fierce love you and Bill shared the moment he introduced you to me --- it was undeniable that you found a home in one another. I was overjoyed that you two chose to travel life together and I am so, so sad that you have lost Bill -- your love is not lost, nor will it ever be. As a woman of faith... I believe your spirits will meet again -- a mystery unknown to we left behind, but one that I hope brings some comfort to you.
Sue - it's long, long journey you begin - Bill's not by your side holding your hand but he is holding your heart every step of the way. Grab hold of his heart in your darkest of days -- the day will come (when...you may not know..) that his love and your memories will begin to see you smile more and cry less. It's not a consistent, straight line, this grief journey. Ups, downs, laughing, crying, one day bearable, the next day you don't know how you can breathe without him, one day screaming in anger/despair/grief, and then smiling the next day. I pray that with time you find your way to the surface out of the mire of your grief and your smiles outweigh your tears of grief.
I cannot join you today at the memorial - circumstances prevent it. Bill will be a piece of the fabric of my life for all of my days. I smile seeing him in my minds eye right this minute. I wish I could hug you in person - know that I am with you ALL in this time of loss. Much love, Cathy (Cole) Huber

So sorry to hear of Bill's passing. He was a year ahead of me in high school so have known him for quite a long time. My family sold him vegetables for the stand and we purchased his apples. I also worked with him at Matter Contracting. I am happy to have had the opportunity to experience his wit and wisdom. Rest in Peace my friend. You will be missed!
