Sergeant, you will be missed far longer than you served. Your sincerity and honesty manifested each day as recruits tromped through the QM. For some, your pleasant and personal greeting might be the only positive interaction they would experience that day. You were the most easy-going yet professional Trooper that I came across in 27+ years. Simply put - you truly were an icon in the NYSP. Rest easy. You earned it.

My return to duty after an on-duty shooting was as a counselor at the SP Academy. Bobby Rose was my roommate. During that Basic School (Sessions 136,7,8)he revealed his wonderful personality, which was that of a caring, good man. Simply put he had that ability to get along with everyone, and had the type of personality that we all would want to emulate. He was of great help to me, and I am a better person because of my friendship with him. God speed my brother.

I met Judge Rose 5 years ago when I started work as the court clerk. There really aren't enough words to describe what a wonderful man he was. Always a smile.Always a kind word. I never met anyone that had great mental recall as he did. I could ask him about any case from years ago and he could tell me all I needed to know without having to look anything up. I was amazed. Judge Rose was truly a man among men.

Always a smiling face and a good word. A kinder man you will never meet. Everyone looked up to him.
My son loved going up to the house to help with his lawn mower, or whatever he needed. His home, like himself....impeccable. John and I send our most sincere sympathy. God Bless

My memories of Bob go back to when he was a State Trooper and the kindness he showed me and then when he was a judge in Greenville. He was a man of great compassion. We met again in Catskill at the Pines where he was a roommate of my husband. He still remembered me after all those years. He will be missed. God rest his soul.

Bob was the first person to make me feel welcome when I worked for the Town of Greenville as the Bookkeeper years ago. Every morning I would walk into his office, yell out "hey buddy" and he replied back "hey buddy". Such a caring and thoughtful person. Not a day went by that he didn't ask how my husband and daughter were doing. He always had a twinkle in his eye when he talked about Jeanette, his bride. Oh, how you will be missed! Rest in Peace my Buddy

I, like so many others, had the distinct honor and privilege to have known and worked with Sgt. Rose. He was and always will be remembered as the quintessential Trooper. His presence at the academy had a calming influence and when ducking into the QM one was always met with a smile. His office was the place where everyone would stop off for a break to relax and catch up on the latest news. There were always staff members, troopers and recruits hanging out, his door was always open to all. He was the true embodiment of a gentleman. My most heartfelt condolences go to Jeannette, John and the rest of his family.

Back in the mid-70's I had the privilege to work with Bob on several occassions while I was the Police Chief in Athens, and he was working "the road" out of the Leeds barracks. He was a professional in every way, but more importantly, he was a good and decent man who treated everyone with respect and dignity. I visited him at the nursing home here in New Hampshire, and I think I helped to brighten his days because of our Greene County roots. He had lots of "war stories" from back in the day, and HE brightened MY day during those visits. I am confident that he is still "on patrol", but in a bigger and better place. Rest in peace, my friend.

Like many before me, I was just another recruit trooper passing through the Academy. But Bob always made me feel he actually cared that I completed my training successfully. He always had an encouraging word for me at a time that was difficult for me & others. He personified all the character traits I believe a New York State Trooper should possess. Truly a real gentleman. My sincerest condolences to Jeanette, John and the rest of the Rose family.

I was surprised and shocked to hear of Bob's passing. I had the privilege of working with him at SP Newburgh/Troop F when we were both young troopers. The fabric he was made of made him a perfect trooper and a credit to the State Police. I'd see him on occasion when I passed thru the Academy. My sincere condolences to the family, may you all find peace in the coming weeks and months. He certainly is in heaven.

Jeanette, We were shocked and saddened a few days ago to learn of Bob's passing. The news travels slowly to Delmar. We trust that you have been handling the loss with the support of your many friends, relatives and your faith. Since we had not talked with you for a few years, we knew that Bob had some health issues but had no idea that his problems were that serious.
I remember that the last time I shook hands with Bob at one of our earlier reunions, he greeted me in Latin (church Latin). We shared the alter as alter boys. Of course, he was my teacher in those days. It is obvious that he will be missed by many given the number of lives he touched. Gin and I will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. God bless.
