Obituary of Angus G. Doyle
COEYMANS – Angus G. “Gus” Doyle, 98, passed into Eternal Life on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Greene Meadows Nursing Home in Catskill.
A resident of Coeymans, he is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Elizabeth Ann “Betty” DeFlumer Doyle; son, Ronald B. Doyle; grand-daughter, Heather (Gregg) Doyle; brother, Matthew L. Doyle; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Gus was predeceased by his parents, Byron Robert Doyle and Theresa M. Garrison Doyle; brother, Byron Robert Doyle Jr.; and sister, Elma A. (Doyle) Morris.
Gus was a Combat Veteran of the U.S. Army Medical Corps, drafted in 1943, serving in the European Theatre of Operations with the 10th Armored Division during World War II. The 10th and the 103rd Infantry also liberated one of the sub-camps of Dachau in the Landsberg area on April 27, 1945. He earned the Bronze Star, WW II Victory Medal, and several other awards, including the New York State Conspicuous Service Medal, and was Honorably Discharged in 1946.
Calling hours will be Thursday, June 2nd from 2 until 4 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 9 Main Street, Ravena. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 p.m., and the VFW ritual service at 3:45 p.m. Cremation will follow, and burial of his ashes will take place at a later date.
