Obituary of Sandra M. VanValkenburg

Sandra Marie “Sandy” VanValkenburg, 64, of East Berne and Westerlo, passed away on Friday morning, December 3, 2021 at her residence. Sandy was born in Albany on May 13, 1957, to the late Barend “Bud” Geel and Alice Turmel Geel. She was raised in Clarksville and graduated from Bethlehem Central School. Sandy worked for more than 40 years as a pathology transcriptionist at St. Peter’s Hospital. She enjoyed bingo, apple picking, going to fairs and craft fairs, and bowling. Sandy was a kind, selfless soul who always put others before herself. She cherished and loved every moment she had with her family. She was a loving and proud mother and grandmother to her kids and four grandsons. Her family was her everything, and in everything she did, she showed that. Sandy is survived by her significant other of 37 years, Paul Beaudet; son, Kevin VanValkenburg and his wife, Natoshia VanValkenburg; daughter, Erica Lee and husband, Harold Lee, and grandsons, Austin Rosenthal and Myles Lee; son, Steven Beaudet and wife, Elizabeth “Nikki” Beaudet, and grandsons, Abel Beaudet and Levi Beaudet; brothers, Joseph “Joe” VanValkenburg and his fiancée, Sue Williams, Barend “Buddy” Geel and his significant other, Sharon Finger, George Geel and his significant other, Lisanne Wilty, and John Geel; nieces and nephews, Joseph “Joey” VanValkenburg, his wife, Theresa, and daughter, Lily, Laura VanValkenburg, Seth Geel, and Marion Geel and her daughter, Gia; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Sandy has been cremated privately. Memorial calling hours will be Wednesday, December 8th from 12 noon until 2 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 State Route 81, Greenville. A Time of Sharing and Remembrance will begin at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Peter’s Cancer Care Center, 317 South Manning Blvd., Suite 220, Albany, NY 12208 will be appreciated.
